Due to circumstances beyond his control, Mark found himself unemployed. After several months of working for a temp agency, he was hired full time. Although Mark was temping, his income was far, far less than what it had been before, and his debts began to pile up. He was worried. He couldn't afford to go out with his friends anymore, at least not yet. However, it didn't cost anything to go walk through the carnival he saw down the street from where he lived. When he arrived, he heard a voice in the crowd yelling, "Free debt help! Get your free debt help here!" Intrigued, Mark followed the voice. Much to his amazement, there was a booth set up with information about free debt management.

"What can we help you with today, sir?" the person attending the booth asked. (He correctly deduced that this was the same person he heard yelling. The man's name was Oscar.)

"I heard you yelling something about free debt help. I need debt help. Preferably free debt help. I was laid off from my job a few months ago, and my debts have piled up so high that I can barely afford food after I pay all my expenses and minimum payments each month."

"Well, you've come to the right place. My company specializes in free debt help. Do you know anything about free debt help?" Oscar asked.

"No, not at all. I do know that if things continue the way they are, I might have to skip some payments so I can continue to make my mortgage payment on time. I'm worried I'll ruin my credit!" Mark exclaimed.

"Don't worry. We can help. Let's talk more about your situation," Oscar said.

"Wait--how much is this going to cost me? It can't be totally free, and I'm so broke I can't afford to pay attention." Mark was skeptical.

"Well, your initial consultation is free. After that, there will be a small monthly fee, but we'll make sure it's affordable for you. We also offer free debt counseling to go along with any debt management program we recommend. After much discussion, Oscar told Mark he was a good candidate for debt consolidation or a debt consolidation mortgage. He explained those options and answered Mark's many questions. Then Oscar gave Mark his business card and told him to go home and think about it because he didn't want Mark to jump into anything he wasn't absolutely sure about. He even suggested that Mark research the company on the Internet and with the Better Business Bureau.

And Mark did just that. The next day, he called Oscar. He met Oscar at Oscar's office instead of the fairgrounds this time, and they got started on a debt consolidation plan that suited Mark well. He was on the road to becoming debt free, and it was all because of the free debt help he found.
