This is the story of Kyle. Kyle bought a 1965 Mustang Mach 5 that he was going to fix up and use as his sole form of transportation. It took a lot of time and money to get this car fixed up, and he racked up a lot of debt in the process. He wasn't too worried about the debt just yet. He didn't think it would be difficult to eliminate credit card debt. His only saving grace was the 1985 Honda Accord he had been driving. It had close to 200,000 miles on it and it ran rough, but it was still able to get him from Point A to Point B--barely. Kyle had a debt elimination plan. He was going to sell his Honda when the Mustang was finally finished. He figured he'd get enough out of it to pay for most of the cost of refurbishing the Mustang, especially since Hondas held their value so well.

Once the Mustang was up and running, he took the Honda out to run some errands (one of which was to buy a "For Sale" sign for it) when he heard a loud noise in the engine. It happened whenever he pulled away from an intersection and once on the highway. Being knowledgeable about cars, he knew it was the transmission, so he took it to an auto shop and found out it would cost $1,500 to fix it, and maybe more once they got in the engine. That was more than twice what Kelly Blue Book said the car was worth. With this new information, the Kelly Blue Book value went down to "No Value." The car was still drivable, so Kyle thought he'd still try to sell it. Maybe he could get something out of it. Then he noticed he was almost out if gas, so he went to his favorite gas station. A friend of his, Steve, worked there, and as he was filling up his car, his friend came out to say hello. Steve immediately noticed Kyle's glum mood (probably when he saw him kicking the garbage can repeatedly) and asked him what was wrong. Kyle explained the situation about the Mustang, the Honda and his need for some debt help. Actually, restoring the Mustang ended up costing far more than what he could have sold the Honda for anyway. And to think he didn't even know about legal debt elimination.

"So, it's worked out well for you?"

"Yes. I even bought this station and opened a branch of the debt management company I chose inside. Didn't you notice the name change? This is no longer Texaco, it's the Debt EliminationStation!"

"Wow! So you went from working at Texaco to buying the station and running a debt elimination company at the same time?"

"Yes! And you can do it, too!"

"Well," Kyle said, "all I really want to do is pay for my Mustang...maybe even achieve total debt elimination."

"You can do that, too. Come inside when you're finished filling up and let me help you find a debt elimination program."

"Okay."

And so it was. Kyle found a debt elimination plan with Steve's help, and now he is on the road to debt freedom--in his new Mustang.
